What this policy covers

This policy describes how practitionermap.com collects, uses, and handles information relating to this website and its users. practitionermap.com is a practitioner directory, not a healthcare provider, and it does not collect protected health information (PHI). HIPAA does not apply.

Information we collect

Practitioner directory data: We compile practitioner and clinic information from publicly available sources including online business listings, the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE) license database, the Washington State Department of Health credential lookup, and the federal NPI Registry. This information is public record. The basis for listing practitioners and practices, including named individuals who have not consented, is explained under Why practitioners and practices are listed below.

Listing claims and corrections: When you submit a claim or correction through our claim form, we collect the location or locations your request covers, your name and email address, optionally your phone number and role at the clinic, and, to claim a listing, your professional license state and number, along with any message you add. We verify the license against the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners or the Washington State Department of Health before approving a claim. Submitting a claim is a request only; it does not create an account or a login, and we use this information solely to verify your identity and process your request.

Email subscriptions: If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address and record a consent timestamp and IP address. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.

Analytics: We use PostHog configured in cookieless mode. No cookies are set and no persistent identifiers are stored. PostHog processes IP addresses and page-event data transiently to produce aggregate analytics. No cookie consent banner is required or shown.

Server logs: Our hosting provider (Vercel) retains standard server logs including IP addresses and request details. These are used for security and performance monitoring and are not used for advertising.

Why practitioners and practices are listed

practitionermap.com lists both practices and named individual practitioners. Practice names, business addresses, contact details, credentials, and license status are matters of public record, drawn from state licensing registries (the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Washington State Department of Health), the federal NPI Registry, and practices’ own published business information.

A practitioner or practice does not need to consent to be listed, and most have not been contacted before listing. Publishing factual, public-record information about a licensed practitioner in a directory is a legitimate informational use of that information. A listing is a factual directory entry. It is not an endorsement, a ranking, or a statement about quality of care.

This applies to named individuals as well as businesses. If you are a practitioner listed by name, you have the same right to correct or remove your listing as a practice owner does, whether or not you own the practice and whether or not you have claimed the listing. See our Listing and Removal Policy and your rights below.

How we use information

• Display accurate practitioner directory information to site visitors
• Verify license status against state board records for the verified badge
• Send account and listing notifications to practitioners who have claimed their listing
• Send email updates to subscribers (opt-in only; unsubscribe any time)
• Monitor and improve site performance and security

We do not use personal information for advertising, do not sell individual data to third parties, and do not share data with third parties except as described below.

Third-party services

• Vercel: hosting and edge delivery. Vercel processes server logs containing IP addresses.
• Supabase: database. Practitioner and subscriber records are stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database.
• PostHog: cookieless product analytics. No cookies or persistent identifiers; PostHog processes IP addresses and page events transiently.
• Resend: transactional email. Email addresses are transmitted to Resend only for the purpose of delivering emails you have opted in to receive.

Your rights

Correction and removal requests: Any listed party may request a correction or removal of their listing, whether or not they own the practice and whether or not they have claimed the listing. This includes a practitioner listed by name who wants their own entry corrected or removed. Contact us at the address below, or follow the steps in our Listing and Removal Policy. We acknowledge requests promptly, publish verified corrections as soon as we can confirm them, and complete confirmed removals as quickly as is practicable.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal data as defined under CCPA. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below.

Email subscribers: You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us directly. Unsubscribed records are soft-deleted so we stop contacting you, and are permanently deleted upon request.

Data retention

We apply a soft-delete pattern to all user-facing records. Deleted records are marked with a deletion timestamp and reason and removed from display, and are permanently deleted upon verified request. Claimed listing data is retained for the duration of the account relationship and deleted upon request after account closure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
